Today I have spent the morning (2 hours and counting) in McDonald's sipping on a mocha and studying for my last final exams of my undergraduate career (yessss!). After an hour had passed one of the employees came up to me to ask if I would like any coffee. "I've noticed you are studying. Would you like a cup of coffee or anything else to help?" It really caught me by surprise considering this isn't the typical establishment where people come up to you like a waitress would to tend to your needs, especially considering I had already paid for my beverage and she could not be tipped. It was just a nice reminder that people can be good and decent.
This woman really inspired me. She went out of her way to help me in a way that's very atypical for a minimum wage employee. So- for the next few days or weeks I am going to write (hopefully everyday) about at least one person I come across in the world who really puts a smile on my face and reminds me of the goodness in people. I guess in today's society people are so caught up in the hustle and bustle of their own lives that actual interaction among people is becoming rarer and we tend to have this view that people are getting worse: meaner, ruder, more irritating. It can be easy to get caught up in the negatives of people and society so I want to take time each day to remember the positives still very much exist.
